Coupons for free product or money off next purchase continue to be a popular promotional mechanic used by promoters.  Distribution methods include: -

In / on pack
Newspapers
Magazines
Door drop
Direct mail
Web
Email

As a promoter, you will be considering the distribution method, the face value of the coupon and its relationship to the retail price, plus coupon handling and clearance charges.  Typically, redemption rates can be as low as 1% for a low value door drop coupon to over 20% for a coupon that is on or in the pack.

Most coupons are cleared through coupon clearing houses who specialise in processing millions of coupons and reimbursing retailers for the coupons they have collected.  OneFee are able to offer their fixed fee service to clients who have their own arrangements with a coupon clearing house.  We simply calculate the cost per redemption based on their agreed costs.  The clearing house is instructed to bill OneFee directly.  Alternatively, we can issue barcodes and use our direct account with our preferred clearing house, NCH Marketing Services.

The case study shows a €0,50 coupon for Danone Actimel distributed via doctors surgeries in Germany.
